CDR Samuel J. Brocato  1960 - VA-55 with CVG-5 aboard CVA-14 in the Western Pacific: Warhorse XO CDR Samuel J. Brocato was lost at sea when his A4D-2 Skyhawk was struck by a drop tank. VF-51, flying F4Ds, were participating with VA-55 in a practice for an airshow for President Eisenhower during his visit to Formosa. VF-51 picked off their drop tanks and they went through the VA-55 flight. Charles B. Howard was on CDR Brocato's right wing when the incident occurred. From Charles B. Howard - AUG 2006. |
