|Unknown A4D-2 with a MK-11 20mm gun pod on the centerline from the June 1958 NAN. Taken at the Naval Air Weapons Meet in El Centro when the weapon was being tested by the Naval Aviation Ordnance Test Station in Chincoteague, VA.
RADM Paul D. Stroop, Chief of BuOrd, indicated the MK-11 gun and pod would mean a gain in aircraft structural simplicity since there would be no need for internal fixed guns.
