Marana Airport Skyhawks

Numerous A-4s, stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ, and at the Avra Valley (Marana) Airport just north of Tucson.

In the last few weeks a large number (12 to 14) of A-4's began showing up at the Avra Valley Airport (Marana Airport).

Well I talked to Bill Muszala at ATW Aviation about those Skyhawks. They are going to restore them! Bill evidently owns one already.

Those aircraft originally left AMARC back in 1983. They were supposed to be for the Malaysian Air Force but got no further than the Aircraft Restoration and Marketing yard next to the base in Tucson. They were allocated civil registration numbers enclosed in a fenced compound and that is as far as they got for 21 years. They were caught up in a failed deal and legal problems but it appears that all has been resolved now.
